Service Coordinators in Multifamily Housing for the Elderly Grants NOFA Available
Earlier this week, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Service Coordinators in Multifamily Assisted Housing for the Elderly grants on the Grants.gov website. The grant makes up to $15 million in FY 2012 funds available for new three-year service coordinator grants.
These funds are part of the total $91 million of FY 2012 appropriations for the service coordinator program. The remaining $76 million went to fund one-year extensions for existing grants. The Program Section of the NOFA can be found here.
Those interested in applying for a grant should be familiar with the FY 2012 General Section for HUD’s discretionary programs that can be found here. The deadline to submit applications is Mon., May 14.
In order to assist owners/managers looking to develop a service coordination program and apply for the HUD grant, AASC has developed an informational toolkit. The kit outlines the benefits of the service coordinator position, provides an overview of project eligibility, identifies budgeting and hiring considerations, provides information to commonly asked questions regarding the grant application, reviews alternative HUD funding options and distinguishes the key components for implementing a service coordinator program.
